As a graduate student, you have a unique vantage point. You listen to a lot of different instructors when you take classes. If your department is doing things right, you are also listening to an outside speaker every week or month in some form of seminar series. While some students may think it is a waste of time to attend so many seminars, use this time slot to observe communication habits and skills.
